Bonjour tout le monde! Today in class, we explored the website "conte-moi", which shares folk stories en francais from the Francophone world. We listened to "La chèvre et le vieillard" from Mali. This week, please visit the website (see the link below), and choose a story from a Francophone country that interests you. Leave a comment on the blog that tells me: 1. The title of the story and the country of its origin. 2. The main characters of the story. 3. The moral or lesson of the story. Remember, use Word Reference to look up words that you don't understand. Merci et passez un très bon week-end! |

There will be no homework over break. Passez de bon temps avec vos familles!
Bonjour tout le monde!
Today in class, we discussed "la culture" and you shared aspects of your culture that are important to you. There is no homework this week, passez un très bon week-end! Aujourd'hui en classe, nous avons parlé des verbes. Aussi, nous avons appris à conjuguer un verbe irrégulier -- le verbe "être" ce qui veut dire "to be".
Your homework for this week is to complete the worksheet we began in class today. Remember, we will not have class next Thursday as you will all be celebrating "l'action de grâce" (Thanksgiving). Please play Duolingo for 45 minutes before our next class. I will watch the leaderboard for your progress! Merci tout le monde, et bon week-end! Today in class, we defined culture and explored aspects of our own cultures. Before we really begin to explore cultures around the world, we first have to have a base knowledge of what culture is and what it means to us personally. From there, we will be able to compare and contrast our culture with the cultures of the francophone countries we will be studying.
We filled out a sheet about culture, and you ranked each item from 1-10 (1 being the most important) according to how important each topic is in your culture. Your homework for next week is to think about what is most important in your culture and to bring in a representation of your culture to share with the class. Some ideas would be pictures of a holiday or celebration, food or clothing, sharing music or a type of dance, pictures of your family, or any books that are important for your family or culture. Please don't forget to bring it to class!! This activity will be meaningful if everyone brings something to share. Merci, et bon week-end! Today in class we learned about indefinite articles (un, une, des). Your homework this week is to:
1. Complete the practice worksheet I handed out in class. 2. Review the definite and indefinite articles by clicking on the links below. I ask that you first "study" by clicking on flashcards, learn, speller, and test. Once you have reviewed the terms this way, you can "play" by clicking on scatter and space race. Leave a post letting me know how long it took you during the scatter game, and your score for the space race game. 3. If you did not do last week's homework (researching your French-speaking country), please refer to last week's post and complete it! 4. Lastly, we will not see each other for a few weeks! Please add me as a friend on Duolingo if you haven't already (my name is 'prairiemeg'), and play for 1 hour. I will keep track of your points to see if you're playing and how well you're doing! Amusez-vous bien! Bonjour a tous! Today in class we asked "pourquoi le francais?" and dove into some trivia about French speaking countries all around the world. You each picked a slip of paper with a French-speaking country on it. Your devoir this week is to do a bit of research on the country you chose to share with your classmates next week. I ask that you turn in a document with 10 facts about the country. Some ideas would be to include facts about the food, music, landscape, economy, what the schools are like, other languages spoken, the colors of the flag, the population size/density, facts about the country's history, religions practiced there, and so much more!!
Here are some websites to help get you started on your search for information: http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/travel/countries/ http://www.britannica.com/topic-browse/Countries-of-the-World https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/rankorderguide.html http://www.factmonster.com/countries.html http://www.francophonie.org/Welcome-to-the-International.html Also, if you have not already done so, please add me ('prairiemeg') as a friend on Duolingo! Amusez-vous bien! Salut tout le monde!
Today in class, we created Duolingo accounts online (or revisited the site, for those of you who have already logged in). Your devoir (homework) for this week is to play Duolingo for 30 minutes (remember, you can always play for longer if you wish :). Please start with the basics and advance as you go. In order to "turn in" your homework this week, you must complete two tasks: 1. please add me as a friend on the game so we can track each other's progress. My name is "prairiemeg", and 2. post a comment to this blog letting me know what level you made it to on the game and how many "lingots" (or points) you earned. In addition to the Duolingo assignment, please complete and turn-in "Les articles definis" sheet that we worked on in class today. You must turn this in (by bringing it to class next week) as well. Amusez-vous bien! Merci, Maimouna Bonjour tout le monde!
This week, I would like you to practice "turning in" homework (les devoirs) for French class. I want you all to get in the habit of checking this page frequently so that you stay up-to-date on homework assignments and other important information. There will be two ways to "turn in" homework in French Enrichment. Some weeks I will assign worksheets--these you will complete and turn in in-person. Other weeks I will assign homework online. In order to show me that you completed the homework, you will respond to the blog post that details the assignment. This week I would like you all to practice "turning in" the results of the Bingo game we played today in class. After opening the French Enrichment 4-8 webpage, 1. Click on "add comment". 2. To include in the comment: your name, and at least three complete sentences (en français!!) from your Bingo worksheet (example: Ma couleur préférée est orange, j'aime le fromage sur ma pizza, etc). 3. Remember: in order to receive full credit, you must leave the comment ("turn in" your homework) before next week's class, Thursday, October 2! |
