Today in class, we defined culture and explored aspects of our own cultures. Before we really begin to explore cultures around the world, we first have to have a base knowledge of what culture is and what it means to us personally. From there, we will be able to compare and contrast our culture with the cultures of the francophone countries we will be studying.
We filled out a sheet about culture, and you ranked each item from 1-10 (1 being the most important) according to how important each topic is in your culture. Your homework for next week is to think about what is most important in your culture and to bring in a representation of your culture to share with the class. Some ideas would be pictures of a holiday or celebration, food or clothing, sharing music or a type of dance, pictures of your family, or any books that are important for your family or culture. Please don't forget to bring it to class!! This activity will be meaningful if everyone brings something to share.
Merci, et bon week-end!
